WV Marcellus Shale Permits by County and Year (2006-11)WV DEP data analyzed by our Manager of Data and Technology, Matt Kelso |
A two hundred mile buffer zone [ at least ] around yellowstone might be a very wise idea. Think the hurricane was bad, let the puppy under the park loose.
Want to know if there is any fracking going on in Kentucky and Florida. Florida looks clean. Kentucky looks like there might be something going on in the fracking. I have property there and fla.
Cassandra, your assessment is correct. Here is a link to the number of producing gas wells on a state by state basis (as of 2010):

Hopefully, we will be able to add Kentucky content to this site in the near future.
No fracking in Florida yet, but Pollister, owner of Century Oil, is determined to frack in southern Florida (in the Lower Sunniland Trend) according to his own words, as well as this quote pulled from the DEP:
“Conference call to Ed Pollister (Century Oil) on Wednesday 7/18 about P-1335 (Permit 1335) and imminent fracking job in S. Florida. Pollister is going to give us a thorough proposal as soon as he can. He has some references from similar formations in Mexico. He said that he would like to drill in the next six months.”
Also wanted to attach this thorough article on Florida fracking:

Do you have a body of data on historic fracking in the US? It is my understanding that more than one million wells have been fracked in the western US over the last 60 years. It would be interesting and educational to look at any/all historic impacts following extensive gas exploration rather than just tracking more recent efforts in the northeastern US.
I assume that you know, but maybe it’s worth mentioning….
The oft-repeated statement that “more than one million wells have been fracked in the western US over the last 60 years” is a half-truth at best, and is often used deliberately to confuse the discussion about shale gas.
“High volume, slick-water hydrofracturing” has been used only since the 1990s. The health and environmental impacts in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming are profound and well-documented.
