FracTracker Alliance is pleased to share that Shannon Smith has been named FracTracker’s new Executive Director! Shannon has been with FracTracker since May 2019, initially in the role of Manager of Communications & Development, and more recently as Interim Executive Director.
Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Reed College. Her interest in environmental and public health causes led to a career in nonprofit management, working in multiple states and countries on issues ranging from coal and LNG exports to sustainable development to sanitation. Shannon says this has strengthened her communications skills.
“I’ve learned how to connect with people from all walks of life. At FracTracker, we provide important insights that spark progress in the just transition to clean energy. We do this by adapting to the needs of grassroots community partners, academics, journalists, policymakers, and other nonprofit organizations.”
Shannon is coming into the role at an exciting time, the year in which FracTracker will develop its next multi-year strategic plan.
“I’m excited to be part of a passionate team that has already made countless contributions to the environmental justice movement, and looking forward to expanding FracTracker’s capacity and impact in the years to come.”
