About Shannon Smith

Shannon is the Executive Director for FracTracker, leading the organization's strategy and development efforts. In addition, she manages the organization's communications by translating FracTracker’s extensive work and research into content that speaks to various audiences such as partner organizations, communities concerned with fracking, policy makers, researchers, and financial supporters.

Prior to joining FracTracker, Shannon spent five years working as a communications, marketing, and development adviser for various environmental public health nonprofits in Haiti. She also co-founded a nonprofit in 2011 that supported cultural initiatives.

Shannon has a strong background in climate justice activism. While living in the Pacific Northwest, she organized under an environmental justice framework to resist proposed coal export terminals and institutional investments in fossil fuel companies.
